What We're About

Hello and welcome to Flash Fiction Forums, one of the few web communities online designed to workshop your flash fiction work with other members! We would like to take a few moments to simply describe what our site is about, and what to expect. There are many writing sites out there; it’s our hope that you find this to be a perfect home for your work.

Flash Fiction Forums is a web community dedicated to reading and critiquing your flash fiction prose. We’re not a fishing site, we’re not a poetry site, we’re not a cooking site. We’re a site for fiction. Writers of all ages and skill want two things: they want people to read their work, and they want to get feedback. That’s what this site is all about. As you know, to access these forums, you must register for an account. We feel very strongly that your work should be protected in as many ways as possible. We protect first rights by making all the writing boards private.

Besides the numerous forums we have for prose, we offer prompts and contests to keep everyone going. Sure, we’re all creative people and love to do our own work, but every now and then we need a little push. The prompts are designed not to be a means to create a piece to be critiques; rather, we use our prompts to give our writers something to think about, something to brainstorm, something that may help them create a sharper image of their own story. Our contests are less noble; bragging rights.

We also want to encourage community without straying too far from the passion of our site. Additional threads are on the boards for our members to get to know one another and most importantly, serve as a distraction to writing. Every writer loves his craft. But every writer loves reasons to delay the painful process. We encourage the greatest friendship possible, the most efficient slacking available while maintaining a professional approach to improving writing.

Like anyone’s going to believe that!
